Our Place In Space Sculpture Trail | Kids' Holiday Activities in Cambridge

It’s been a hot summer, hasn’t it?! Between staying cool and finding shade, I’ve tried to venture outside with the children this summer. It’s partly to get them out of the house as they are now at that stage where they could happily lounge in front of the tv or do gaming all day, but also these summer days of making real memories with my children feels like it’s getting shorter with them becoming older and prefer doing stuff with their friends.

Our Place in Space Sculpture Trail

At the beginning of the school holiday, a friend had told us about the Our Place in Space sculpture trail that was coming to Cambridge. The 3D sculpture trail is a creative project by Unboxed which created the scaled installation of the solar system with the artwork designed by Oliver Jeffers.

My family are big fans of the Oliver Jeffers books and used to read all his books to the children when they were little. Both of my children are also completely fascinated by the solar system. I remember taking them on regular trips to the Space Centre in Leceister or to the Science Museum in London during the school holidays. One Christmas we got them a telescope so they could enjoy gazing at the moon and stars in the night sky.

We did the whole 8.5km route in two parts which started from Midsommer Common to Waterbeach.
