Hitchin Lavender

Last weekend, we decided to stop over at Hitchin Lavender on our drive home from seeing family in London. The lavender farm is located in rural Hertfordshire and about 25 miles from Cambridge. It is a small attraction, but you could easily spend a couple of hours wandering between the lavender rows and cut your own flowers to take home. They also have a small sunflower field too. Afterwards you could pop into their café in a purpose-built shed to finish off with a slice of cake and tea, and there is a little shop where they also sell lavender products from.

When we visited the lavender farm, the summer flowering season had come to an end, but you could still pick some lavender and we took some bunches to be dried at home. Every time I walk past one of our shelves where I had put a vase of lavender, I am greeted by their lovely scent. The farm is open for one more week before it closes on 3rd September. I am already looking forward to going back there next year to see the fresh lavender when they flower again from mid July.
