Frequently Asked Questions - Booking your wedding photographer Diana Hagues
What is your style?
My style of photography is documentary. I love to shoot the natural spontaneity of the big and in-between moments and the often unnoticed ones. Through the laughter, tears and joy, I like to capture all the heightened emotions of your wedding day.
Documentary wedding photography is often considered as being “fly-on-the-wall” and in the background, but I also like to be in the thick of the action to get the best sense and shoot for the emotions and genuine connections that comes in your wedding. I work unobtrusively and the best compliment I get from my couples and guests at your wedding is that they didn’t even notice their picture were being taken, and seeing things they would have missed.
Do you shoot from a shot list?
Yes and no. I have experience shooting weddings to know what are the key moments to look for, but also every couple is different and may want something individual and alternative. I shoot in an artistic and creative style so I compose and create photographs according to the emotions and real moments taking place. Your photographs should reflect your personality and story and that is what I aim to deliver to you. I am always happy to communicate with you and discuss your ideas. That being said, if you ask me to reproduce a list of Pinterest-inspired visual storyboard, then I might not be the right photographer for you.
Do you make time for portraits?
Absolutely, if that is what you want. I understand the importance of having something for your family and maybe your mantelpiece. I like to keep portraits to a minimum and in keeping with the relaxed and natural style of my photography. I try to make the time short and sweet, so you can have more time to spend with your guests at your wedding and allow me to focus on the candid shots that truly capture the spirit of your wedding day.
How would you describe the aesthetics of your photographs?
Fun, Fresh, Honest and Emotive. I have a creative eye for detail and making strong storytelling frames. I love using framing, lines and layers to create my signature look. I favour the natural aesthetics that allow your natural looks and qualities to shine over the airbrushed look in Photoshop. Above all, I make photographs that feel unique, timeless and full of emotion as these are the photographs that will capture your imagination and feelings to remind you of your special day.
